Language Arts Reflection
This year in language arts we did many activities, projects and other things. I enjoyed all the different activities we did this year. We did lots of cool projects and read lots of nice books. Throughout this process of learning we took Vocab Quizzes, these were quizzes we took every two weeks on vocab words that we learned over the few weeks we had to learn the new words. I think through this experience I grew in the skill of studying for tests and quizzes.
I know I grew in this skill because when we first started taking these quizzes I never studied which resulted in me getting bad grades on those vocab quizzes. Getting bad grades is not good because your grades follow you all the way to collage, collages might not want you if you have bad grades. When we did these vocab quizzes first we would be given a vocab chart that we were expected to fill out and then study the words on that chart before we took the quiz in call. On the chart we had to write the words, what they mean a picture to help us remember the word, a sentence using that word and we had to find the synonyms and antonyms of the word. The first time I had failed a vocab quiz was when we took quiz number four, I kept failing most of the time after that because of lack of study. After I started studying harder I got a ninety-five on test seven. I felt happy that I got an A so I wanted to do that more I slipped a few times after that but mostly got good grades on them. Some words I learned through this process were aloof meaning, withdrawn. Another word is bask meaning to expose. One other word that I have learned doing this is the word flaunt which means to wave slowly. Studying really affected the grades I got on my Vocab Quizzes, I could tell as I looked back on my before studying grades and my after studying grades. There was a big difference. I’m glad I know how to properly study. The way I study is I look over the words first, and then I drill them by memorizing each one. After I have memorized it I go to my grandma who reads the words to me and I tell her what the words mean until I know ever single word.
I think that it’s important to study in high school you can get a good GPA and get into any collage at all. Good grades are important for collage, jobs and many other things that are everyday things in life so getting good grades can affect everything I do in the future and help me throughout my journey in school. Not having good grades could affect my life negatively so I know I need to work hard. Now that I know how much studying can affect my grades I plan to work a lot harder the rest of middle school and all during high school and college.
